Move to Remember: A Somatic Approach

A gentle somatic practice to help you slow down, release tension, and reconnect with yourself—one breath at a time…

Somatic movement has become a gentle call back to myself whenever my mind feels overwhelmed by endless thoughts, worries, or stress. I know all too well what it feels like to be stuck inside my head—disconnected from my body, distracted by the noise of life, and sometimes even numb to what’s happening inside. For me, somatic movement has been a tender invitation to slow down and listen—not to how my body should look or move, but how it truly feels in each moment.

When I practice somatic movement, I approach my body with curiosity and kindness. Through slow, intentional movement, I begin to notice the subtle places where I might be holding tension or carrying stress that I wasn’t even aware of. It’s like my body is holding stories that my mind has forgotten, and the movement helps unlock those stories, allowing me to gently release what no longer serves me. The breath becomes this beautiful bridge, helping me reconnect to my body’s natural rhythm and the present moment.

For me, somatic practice isn’t about achieving any external goals or performing “perfect” movements. It’s about being present with whatever is unfolding inside—whether that’s discomfort, emotion, or a simple sense of ease. Over time, I’ve come to treasure these sessions as moving meditations, moments of deep self-compassion that bring clarity, calm, and a profound sense of peace.

This kind of practice has been especially meaningful when life feels overwhelming, when anxiety creeps in, or when I feel disconnected from myself and the world around me. It helps me come back home to my body, to find stillness within motion, and to gently hold space for whatever emotions arise without judgment.

For those moments when you’re longing to feel more at home in your body—but not through force or striving—somatic movement offers a softer way in. It’s not about doing more, but about tuning in, gently. This practice is less about progress and more about presence, creating space to move, feel, and simply be, just as you are.
